Artist Statement / Image Info

When Brendan Miggins (aka MIGGSEYE) was four years old he walked into the corner of a table and split open his forehead. Many years later, a friend told him that probably opened his Third Eye.

By age eight, Brendan had decided he wanted to become an architect—so he did, graduating from the University of Notre Dame with a professional degree in Architecture. A year studying art and design in Rome opened his eyes to Renaissance ideals and examples of versatile, creative individuals like Leonardo DaVinci who were unbounded by singular labels like artist, architect, inventor. Today we call this: Polymath.

After Notre Dame, Brendan practiced architecture, art, and all manner of creative impulse as a polymath while living in Texas and New Mexico—then returning to his birthplace of Connecticut. After caring for his parents through the end of their lives, Brendan discovered his life’s mission: Helping people discover their true creative self and potential in life. His work in art and design as MIGGSEYE, with a new focus in NFTs, is an expression of this mission.

MIGGSEYE’s current work involves new media digital image collages in a Pop Art style, similar to his work done using early era color copy machines (Risographs) which required multiple passes for each color scan. MIGGSEYE has advanced his process using new digital media and technology, resulting in playful, multiple exposure images, swimming in fields of color and evoking themes of time and memory. MIGGSEYE’s work also delves into experimental digital image glitch, which he posits is the new media corollary to printmaking (specifically monotype prints), which he was trained in while attending Notre Dame.

MIGGSEYE is an artist based in Farmington, Connecticut currently working primarily in a Glitch Pop Art style. His current NFT collections include: ABOVE SUNSET (an ongoing collection of image collages featuring pop culture icons, both old and new), GLITCH PARTY and A FELLOW OF INFINITE GLITCH (collections focused on experimental glitch imagery), and MIGGSEYE STUDIO (uncategorized stream of consciousness artworks and studies that may, or may not, lead to a new path, direction, or collection). MIGGSEYE’s work has been collected by notable NFT collectors including Paris Hilton.
